Luxury safaris in Tsavo offer an extra touch of comfort and style. From special wildlife viewing experiences to added activities, everything comes with a little more attention to detail.
Much of the luxury depends on the type of vehicle and accommodation you choose, as these two elements shape your whole safari experience.
A typical luxury safari day begins with an early morning game drive, followed by a bush breakfast in the wild. Later, you might enjoy a sun-downer on a deck, drink in hand, while watching the sunset.
Dinner can be served with a scenic view alongside other guests or privately in your room. If you wish, you can take a night game drive to search for nocturnal animals such as the shy leopards that hunt after dark.
Other luxury activities include hot air balloon safaris, offering an aerial view of Tsavo National Park. You can also enjoy horseback rides, fishing, scenic flights over the park, and camel ride safaris.
About the Tsavo Conservation Area
The Tsavo Conservation Area has the largest elephant population in the region, possibly in the whole continent. Around 40 percent of Kenya’s elephants live here.
It is also home to more than 18 percent of the country’s rare and endangered black rhinos, most of which are found in the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary inside Tsavo National Park.
The elephant population in Tsavo is growing steadily, at a rate of about 4 to 5 percent each year, despite concerns about poaching. Even though poaching is illegal, cases of wildlife trade have occurred, with 2011 being one of the worst years in recent history.
The conservation area is also home to other rare species such as the critically endangered Hirola and the endangered Grevy’s zebra. Strong conservation efforts are in place to protect and grow the numbers of these animals.
The Tsavo Conservation Area is the most visited in Kenya. Most visitors come to explore Tsavo East National Park, Tsavo West National Park, and Amboseli National Park.
