Kasigau Gate Airstrip – Fly Into Tsavo West National Park with Ease

Kasigau Gate Airstrip is located on the southeastern border of Tsavo West National Park, about a 20-minute drive from Mount Kasigau.

The airstrip serves flights from several airports in Kenya, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport in Nairobi, as well as Moi International Airport in Mombasa.

It is one of the busiest airstrips in the region, handling flights to Tsavo West National Park and nearby communities.

Facilities at the airstrip include a Kenya Wildlife Service check post, toilets, and offices.

Tsavo West National Park is sometimes called the “Land of Lava, Springs, Man-Eaters, and Magical Sunsets.” It is well known for the famous man-eating lion stories from the time of the East African Railway construction during the colonial period.

Together with Tsavo East National Park, it forms the larger Tsavo Conservation Area. Tsavo West is the second-largest park in Kenya, covering about 9,065 square kilometers. It borders Tsavo East National Park, and the two are separated by the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway.

The park is a popular safari destination because of its wide range of activities and wildlife viewing opportunities. It lies in the coastal province of Kenya, close to Tsavo East, with the historic railway separating the two parks.

Many tourists visit Tsavo West National Park every year. One of the common questions asked is how to get there. The park is about 281 km from Nairobi and 206 km from Mombasa. Travelers can reach it by road or by air.

Domestic flights operate from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport, as well as from Moi International Airport in Mombasa. Flying is a popular choice for visitors on short trips or for those who want to save travel time.
