Detailed 4-Day Tsavo Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Tsavo East National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi and start your journey to Tsavo East National Park via the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway. Arrive in the park in the early afternoon and enjoy a short game drive as you head to your lodge for lunch and check-in.

In the afternoon, go for a game drive to see some of Tsavo East’s wildlife, including red dusty elephants, lions, buffalos, hippos, crocodiles, gerenuks, zebras, waterbucks, and more. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Explore Tsavo East National Park

Spend the day exploring Kenya’s largest and oldest national park. Begin with an early morning game drive to see predators such as lions and hyenas, as well as early grazers like hippos, cape buffalos, wildebeests, and zebras.

During the day, visit different watering holes where many animals gather. Explore Aruba Dam and Lugard Falls on the Galana River. Return to your lodge in the evening to relax and watch the sunset over the open plains. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Explore Tsavo West National Park

After an early breakfast, drive to Tsavo West National Park, the second-largest park in Kenya, known for its beautiful landscapes. In addition to its wildlife, the park has notable physical features that attract visitors.

During your game drive, visit Mzima Springs to see wildlife in and around the water, explore the Chyulu Hills, and see the Shetani Lava Flows. Look out for elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, wildebeests, zebras, hyenas, and more. Overnight at a lodge in Tsavo West.

Day 4: Departure back to Nairobi

Enjoy a relaxed morning and breakfast at your lodge, then check out. Have a game drive as you exit Tsavo West before returning to Nairobi. You will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel in the city.
