Detailed 4-Day Amboseli & Tsavo West Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Tsavo West National Park
Your safari driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodation on Kenya’s coast and drive you to your first destination, Tsavo West National Park. The park is known for its scenic landscapes, varied habitats, and a wide range of bird and animal species. Arrive in the afternoon, check in at your lodge, have lunch, and take some time to relax.
In the evening, go for a game drive in the park to explore its hills, springs, watering holes, volcanic lava beds, acacia woodlands, and Savannah grasslands. Look out for the Big Five and other wildlife such as zebras, hyrax, giraffes, hippos, and crocodiles. Visit the Rhino Sanctuary to see the endangered black rhino. Overnight in Tsavo West.
Day 2: Mzima Springs and transfer to Amboseli National Park
Start the day with a pre-sunrise game drive to spot early hunters like lions, hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as early grazers like hippos and zebras. Watch the sunrise over the park before returning to your lodge for breakfast.
After checking out, visit Mzima Springs, famous for its clear water, green vegetation, and wildlife such as crocodiles, hippos, monkeys, exotic fish, and migratory birds. Then, drive to Amboseli National Park, known for its large elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Check in at your lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to get your first feel of the park. Overnight in Amboseli.
Day 3: Full day in Amboseli National Park
Start your day early to enjoy the most active hours in the park when wildlife is easiest to spot. Look out for hyenas, wildebeests, elephants, buffalos, zebras, lions, leopards, and more. Spend the day exploring different areas of the park before returning to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Nairobi – End of Safari
Enjoy a relaxed morning and breakfast at the lodge. You may choose to visit a Maasai village for a cultural experience before driving to Nairobi. Your guide will drop you off at the airport or your accommodation.
