Detailed 3-Day Tsavo West Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Tsavo West National Park
You will be picked up from Nairobi or Mombasa by your safari guide and driven to Tsavo West National Park, home to the African Big Five. By midday, you will arrive in the park, spotting some wildlife on your way to the lodge for check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive to explore the plains, woodlands, hills, and wildlife of Tsavo West. Visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary to see the endangered black rhino. Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge.
Day 2: Game drives in Tsavo West National Park
The cooler hours of the day are best for spotting wildlife, so today you will enjoy a pre-sunrise game drive, a mid-morning game drive, and an evening game drive. Look out for lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, rhinos, zebras, lesser kudu, dik-diks, hippos, hyrax, giraffes, cheetahs, crocodiles, and some of the park’s 600 bird species.
You will also visit Mzima Springs in the northern part of the park, as well as physical features like Shetani Lava Flows and Chaimu Crater. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Departure – End of Safari
Enjoy one last game drive to spot any animals you may have missed. Visit the Tsavo River for a rewarding bird-watching experience, then return to the lodge for breakfast. After check-out, exit the park and drive back to Nairobi or Mombasa for your flight home.
