Detailed 3-Day Tsavo Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Mombasa to Tsavo East National Park
Early morning pick-up from your hotel in Mombasa by your safari guide. Drive to Tsavo East National Park and begin your first game drive in search of the famous “man-eaters,” the lions of Tsavo, along with other animals in the park.
Arrive at your safari camp for lunch, check in, and rest during the hottest hours of the day. In the late afternoon, head out for another game drive to spot elephants, leopards, hippos, buffalos, gerenuks, waterbucks, and more. Return to your camp for overnight.
Day 2: Tsavo East National Park to Tsavo West National Park
Start the day very early with a pre-sunrise game drive to try and spot predators or nocturnal animals returning from a hunt. Return to camp for breakfast, then depart for Tsavo West National Park.
Arrive in time for lunch, check in, and head out for an afternoon game drive. Visit the Shetani Lava Flow and the oasis of Mzima Springs, where you can see hippos, crocodiles, and fish in crystal-clear waters. Return to your camp at sunset for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Rhino Sanctuary and Departure
Enjoy a pre-sunrise game drive in Tsavo West to look for predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas, and cheetahs, as well as nocturnal animals like porcupines. Return to camp for breakfast.
Afterward, visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, which protects the park’s endangered black rhinos and is home to other wildlife. Return to camp for lunch, check out, and drive to Mombasa, where your guide will drop you at the airport for your flight.
