Detailed 10-Day Kenya Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park – Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, check out of your hotel in Nairobi and drive to Tsavo West National Park in southern Kenya. Arrive in the afternoon, check in at your lodge, and have lunch. In the late afternoon, visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary to see the endangered black rhinos and other animals in the area. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Tsavo West National Park – Game Drive, Mzima Springs
Start the day with an early morning game drive to look for zebras, lions, buffalos, elephants, antelopes, monkeys, and more. Visit Mzima Springs to see fish, hippos, and crocodiles from an underwater viewing tank. There are also excellent bird-watching opportunities in the area. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Tsavo West to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most visited parks. It is famous for its large elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Arrive in the afternoon, check in at your lodge, relax after lunch, and head out for an evening game drive. Overnight in Amboseli.
Day 4: Explore Amboseli National Park
Spend the day exploring Amboseli. You may choose an early morning hot air balloon safari with a bush breakfast, a game drive, a bird-watching trip around Lake Amboseli and the swamps, a guided nature walk, or a visit to a Maasai village. Overnight in Amboseli.
Day 5: Amboseli to Lake Naivasha National Park
Have an early breakfast and drive to Lake Naivasha National Park. Stop in Nairobi for lunch, then continue to Lake Naivasha and arrive later in the day. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Lake Naivasha.
Day 6: Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park
Enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Naivasha followed by a boat safari on the lake to see birds, hippos, crocodiles, and other animals along the shores. Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, have lunch at your lodge, and then head out for an afternoon game drive to see rhinos, zebras, buffalos, hippos, waterbucks, giraffes, baboons, and more. Overnight in Lake Nakuru.
Day 7: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve
Go for an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru to spot predators such as lions and hyenas, as well as early grazers like hippos, rhinos, and antelopes. Return for breakfast and check out.
Before leaving, enjoy bird-watching at Lake Nakuru, which is home to thousands of flamingos and other waterbirds such as pelicans, herons, storks, African fish eagles, and kingfishers.
Continue to Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving in the afternoon. Have lunch, relax, and settle in at your lodge. Overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 8-9: Masai Mara National Reserve
Spend two full days exploring Masai Mara, the most popular park in Kenya. Together with Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, it forms the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, famous for the annual wildebeest migration. Activities include game drives, guided walking safaris, bird-watching, hot air balloon rides, and visits to local Maasai villages. Overnight in Maasai Mara.
Day 10: End of Safari
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi. You will be dropped off at the airport, marking the end of your 10-day Kenya safari.
